Bhubaneswar: Sept 29 [UDN}:Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday launched the state’s cooperative membership mega campaign ‘Sambandha’ at the Agricultural Education Sadan of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) in Bhubaneswar, with the objective of strengthening the cooperative movement and expanding its reach among farmers and rural communities.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Majhi said that ‘Sambandha’ is not merely the launch of another government scheme or programme, but an innovative initiative aimed at building and strengthening a close relationship and bond of trust between the government and every farming family in Odisha.
He said the campaign is intended to bring more farmers into the cooperative system and ensure that they can access various services and benefits through cooperative institutions at the grassroots level.
Under the initiative, cooperative societies in rural areas will function as ‘one-stop solution’ centres, providing farmers with access to a range of services and facilities under one platform. The government’s focus is to make these institutions more accessible and useful to farming communities while strengthening the cooperative network across the state.
The Chief Minister also emphasised the importance of cooperatives in supporting farmers and promoting rural economic development. The ‘Sambandha’ campaign is expected to encourage greater participation of farmers in cooperative societies and further strengthen the connection between rural communities and government-supported cooperative institutions.
As part of the launch programme, dividends were distributed to farmers associated with Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) and Large Area Multi-Purpose Cooperative Societies (LAMPS). The distribution was presented as an important step towards ensuring that cooperative members directly benefit from their participation in the cooperative system.
The launch of ‘Sambandha’ marks an effort by the Odisha government to expand cooperative membership, improve grassroots-level service delivery and create a stronger institutional link between farmers, cooperative societies and the state administration.
