Semiliguda, July 10 [UDN}: The Koraput branch of the Odisha Blood Donors Association organized a blood donation camp at the e-Library premises on Sunday. Despite heavy rainfall, 46 donors voluntarily donated blood during the camp.
The camp was inaugurated by the association’s advisor, Dr. Chittaranjan Mishra, and Dr. Naresh Chandra Sahu, State Executive President of the Federation of Blood Donor Organizations (FBDO). On the occasion, Dr. Sahu was felicitated by the association with a memento and a bouquet on the occasion of his retirement.
The association’s General Secretary Snigdharani Mishra, advisor Dr. Chittaranjan Mishra, and President Bijay Sahu addressed the gathering and highlighted Dr. Sahu’s significant contribution to the field of blood donation.
Following the inaugural session, the blood donation camp commenced. Notably, members of three entire families, including two couples, participated in donating blood. Despite the continuous rainfall, people from Koraput, Damanjodi and Sunabeda travelled to the venue to donate blood.
Among the donors were Diksha, Amit, Vicky, Chaitanya, Ashish, Bimal, Narayan, Saroj, Kedar, Ranapreet, Rajshree, Sunil, Jitendra, Madan, Divyanshi, Hridananda, Saudamini, Satya, Srikant, Ishwar, Pratima, Hrushikesh, Anand, Sanjay, Shiva, Sujit, Umakant, Buda, Sukanti, Raghunath, Chandan, Ritanjali, Shantanu, Harekrishna, Simanchal, Shashikant, Sudhanshu, Ramesh, Mandu, Bikash, Bhagu, Shankar, Deepak and Anjan, who became lifesavers through their donations.
Others present included Executive President Pradeep Kumar Tripathy, advisor Ajay Kumar Sahu, Vice-President Jaya Badatya, Organizing Secretary Anand Mouli Pattnaik, Treasurer Ganesh Sahu, Joint Secretary Swastik Mishra, and members Krishna Badatya and Asha Sharma.
On the occasion, M.V. Ramesh, President of the Lokashakti Banik Sangh, was inducted as a new member of the association. Gobinda Ballav Padhi was felicitated on his retirement, while birthday greetings were extended to Ajay Sahu.
A total of 46 units of blood were collected during the camp. The blood collection was carried out by Dr. Madhusudan Baliarsingh and staff members V. Gangadhar, Kaibalya Das, Ajit Gouda and Rabindra Mishra from the Blood Centre of Shaheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital, Koraput.
At the end of the programme, General Secretary Mrs. Mishra expressed her gratitude to all participants and supporters for their cooperation and contribution despite the heavy rainfall.
