Suresh Pujari Calls for Robust Safety Measures During Census Operations

Bhubaneswar:April. 28: Following an attack on four census workers in Kamakshyanagar of Dhenkanal district, the state government has expressed concern over the incident. In this regard, a review meeting was held at Lok Seva Bhavan under the chairmanship of Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari.
Considering all adverse situations, the minister has instructed that the safety of all officials and staff engaged in census work should be given top priority, and comprehensive security arrangements must be made.
The first phase of the census in the state is currently underway from April 16 to May 15, focusing on house listing. Officials and staff are going door-to-door collecting information about housing conditions, location, family facilities, and other related details. The state government has expressed concern over several such incidents reported from different places during the census process.
To ensure safety, police have been assigned responsibility for protecting the officials and staff involved.

Census work to remain suspended from 11 AM to 3 PM due to intense heatwave conditions
Additional Chief Secretary of the Disaster Management Department, Dr. Arabinda Padhee, has written to all District Collectors and municipal authorities
The directive aims to protect workers from extreme heat and ensure smooth operations
Since teachers are mainly engaged in census duties, arrangements have been made so that students’ education and mid-day meal services in schools are not disrupted. During the summer vacation, teaching arrangements have been shifted online.
The minister also informed that in case of any casualty during census work, compensation will be provided from the Disaster Response Fund, Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, or Red Cross Fund as required.
