Tributes Paid to Former Odisha Chief Minister Dr. Sadashiva Tripathy in Nabarangpur on Death Anniversary, Recalling His Contribution to Public Life

Nabarangpur, Sept 15 [UDN}:The death anniversary of eminent freedom fighter, politician, social worker and former Chief Minister of Odisha, Dr. Sadashiva Tripathy, was observed with solemnity and respect at the Nabarangpur Municipality office premises on September 9, 2026.

Before the main programme, guests and other dignitaries paid floral tributes at the statue of Dr. Tripathy located at Sadashiva Park. They remembered his enduring legacy and paid homage to his contributions to the freedom struggle, public service and the development of Odisha.

The speakers recalled Dr. Tripathy’s patriotism, sacrifice, dedication and commitment to serving the common people. They highlighted his significant contribution to the social and economic development of Odisha and described his simple lifestyle, principled political career and dedication to public welfare as an inspiration for the present generation.

Among those who attended the programme were Nabarangpur MLA and District Planning Board Chairman Gaurishankar Majhi, educationist Narayan Panda, Vijay Choudhury, noted social worker Jagannath Mahapatra, Purnachandra Mahapatra, Prabhasini Mahanti, Swarnalata Patnaik, Prakash Mishra, Dr. Tripathy’s descendant Kedar Tripathy, Nabarangpur Municipality Chairperson Kunu Nayak, Municipal Executive Officer Dr. Ashok Kumar Karn, and Sub-Divisional Information and Public Relations Officer Satya Narayan Pradhan, along with several other prominent personalities.

During the event, speakers recalled Dr. Tripathy’s unwavering love for the nation, his dedication to the welfare of ordinary people and his role in the development of Odisha. They said that his simple way of life, commitment to public service and values-driven political career continue to serve as an example for society.

Dr. Sadashiva Tripathy was born on April 21, 1910, in Nabarangpur. Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s principles of non-violence, he joined the Indian National Congress and actively participated in India’s freedom movement. His contributions during the freedom struggle and his subsequent efforts for public welfare and the development of Odisha remain memorable.

Those present said that Dr. Tripathy’s ideals, values, simple lifestyle and unwavering commitment to public service would continue to remain a source of inspiration for generations to come.
