Union Home Minister Amit Shah Leads Tributes to Martyr Police Personnel at Police Commemoration Day Ceremony in New Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 30 (UDN):   Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid solemn tribute to police personnel who laid down their lives in the service of the nation during the Police Commemoration Day ceremony held at the National Police Memorial in New Delhi. The ceremony honoured the courage, dedication, sacrifice and commitment of police personnel who lost their lives while discharging their duties to protect the country and ensure the safety and security of its citizens.

The National Police Memorial stands as a symbol of remembrance and respect for police personnel who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. The annual Police Commemoration Day observance provides an opportunity to remember the bravery of these personnel and acknowledge the vital role played by police forces in maintaining law and order, combating crime, protecting national security and safeguarding the lives of citizens.

During the occasion, Amit Shah also called upon the people of the country to unite in the fight against drug trafficking and substance abuse. He stated that the government has set an ambitious target of completely eliminating the drug trade from India by 2029. Emphasising the importance of collective action, the Home Minister urged citizens to join hands with the government and law enforcement agencies to strengthen the campaign against narcotics.

Shah stressed the need for a united and sustained effort to tackle the menace of drugs, which poses serious challenges to public health, social well-being and the future of the country’s youth. The fight against drug trafficking requires coordinated action by law enforcement agencies, government institutions, communities and citizens to prevent the illegal supply of narcotic substances and reduce their harmful impact on society.

The Home Minister’s message highlighted two important priorities: honouring police personnel who have sacrificed their lives for the nation and strengthening the collective fight against drug-related crimes. The government aims to intensify its efforts against narcotics trafficking, with 2029 set as the target year for eliminating the drug trade across the country.
