Winter Chill Sets In at Odisha’s Koida as Sundargarh Temperature Drops Below 15°C

Koida, Sundargarh, Oct 26: Winter’s arrival is beginning to be felt in Koida in Odisha’s Sundargarh district, where temperatures have dipped below 15 degrees Celsius. The falling mercury has brought a noticeable chill during early mornings and nights, prompting residents to seek warmth while continuing their daily routines.

As the weather turns colder, parks are witnessing early-morning visitors who head outdoors for walks, yoga and exercise to stay active and maintain their fitness. At night, however, the cold becomes more noticeable, particularly in slum areas where residents have been gathering around small fires for warmth.

Residents Turn to Morning Walks and Exercise

Despite the drop in temperature, many residents continue to visit local parks in the early hours. Morning walks, yoga and physical exercise have become part of their routine as they adjust to the changing weather.

A local resident said winter had only just begun in Koida and recalled that the previous year had been colder, with the chill setting in earlier. The resident added that regular exercise and yoga helped people remain fit during the winter season.

Poorly Maintained Park Raises Concerns

Alongside the changing weather, residents have raised concerns over the poor condition of a local park that attracts morning walkers and other visitors.

According to residents, broken tree branches are scattered along pathways, grass has grown excessively and exercise equipment has been damaged. They believe these issues have reduced the number of people visiting the park.

The area also attracts visitors in the evening because of a nearby Maa Lakshmi Puja pandal. However, residents say better maintenance could make the park more accessible and encourage greater public use.

They have urged local authorities to clear the pathways, repair damaged equipment and improve the upkeep of the green space.

Night-Time Cold Prompts Residents to Seek Warmth

The drop in temperature is particularly noticeable after sunset, when residents in several slum areas have reportedly gathered around fires to keep warm.

While the morning chill has not stopped people from exercising outdoors, colder nights are making warmth a growing concern for some residents. The change in weather signals the gradual arrival of winter in the region.

Winter Conditions Begin to Emerge in Sundargarh

With temperatures in Koida falling below 15°C, residents are beginning to adapt to cooler conditions. Although the winter chill is still in its early stages, people are already noticing the difference between daytime weather and the colder mornings and nights.

For now, residents are continuing their daily activities while seeking ways to stay warm. Alongside the seasonal change, they hope local authorities will address the park’s maintenance problems so that it remains a safe and welcoming place for exercise and recreation.
