Boosting Koraput Coffee Production and Market Reach

Bhubaneswar, March 6: MJ Dinesh, Chairman of the Coffee Board, met with Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, at Lok Seva Bhawan on Wednesday to discuss ways to improve coffee production in Koraput and expand its market reach.

During the meeting, Singh Deo emphasized the importance of increasing coffee production, upgrading infrastructure, and expanding retail outlets to support the local coffee industry. As a gesture of appreciation, Dinesh presented Singh Deo with a coffee packet and a book on the coffee industry.

Koraput coffee, known for its distinctive and rich flavor, has gained recognition worldwide. In addition to Koraput, coffee is now cultivated in other districts like Rayagada, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Keonjhar.

The meeting was attended by key officials, including Principal Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Coffee Board Joint Director Shivakumar Swamy, and Odisha Nodal Officer Upendra Kumar Shah. They discussed various collaborative efforts aimed at further strengthening the coffee sector in Odisha.
