4th April 20325: The 2025 National Senior Men’s Hockey Championship commenced on Friday at the Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. The tournament will run until the 15th of April and is being played in a format similar to the recently held National Women’s Hockey Championship.
A total of 30 teams are competing, split into three divisions: A, B, and C. Division A, the top tier, will see the best teams battle it out for the championship trophy. Meanwhile, teams in Divisions B and C will aim to secure promotion to higher divisions in future seasons.
Division A features 12 teams, including the defending champions, Odisha, and runners-up Haryana. These 12 teams are further divided into four pools. Pool A includes Odisha, Punjab, and Madhya Pradesh; Pool B consists of Haryana, Maharashtra, and Jharkhand; Pool C includes Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Bengal; and Pool D has Manipur, Karnataka, and Puducherry.
Odisha will begin their campaign on April 8th against Madhya Pradesh and will follow up with a match against Punjab to complete their pool stage. The quarter-finals are set for April 12th, and the semi-finals will be held on April 13th.
The championship promises exciting matches as teams compete for the prestigious title in senior men’s hockey.
