India to Finalize Major Rafale-Marine Fighter Jet Deal with France on April 28

India is set to sign a significant defense agreement with France for the procurement of Rafale-M (Marine) fighter jets, further strengthening its naval aviation capabilities. The deal is expected to be officially concluded on April 28, 2025.

As part of this high-profile defense collaboration, India will acquire 26 Rafale-M combat aircraft, specifically designed for operations from aircraft carriers. The package includes 22 single-seater jets and 4 twin-seater trainer variants, aimed at enhancing operational readiness and pilot training for the Indian Navy.

This agreement marks a major step in India’s defense modernization efforts and its strategic partnership with France. The Rafale-M, a naval variant of the highly advanced Rafale fighter, is known for its superior combat performance, advanced avionics, and capability to operate in challenging maritime environments.

The deal is expected to play a key role in bolstering the Indian Navy’s air power, particularly with the induction of the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, which is designed to operate such carrier-based fighters.
