Governor Encourages Trainee Officers to Champion Welfare Delivery

Bhubaneswar, May 29: Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati urged trainee officers to build strong knowledge of welfare and development schemes to ensure effective service delivery to underprivileged communities.

Addressing trainees of the Gopabandhu Academy of Administration, including Assistant Labour Officers (ALOs) and Additional District Welfare Officers (ADWOs), the Governor emphasized the need to understand not only departmental schemes but also broader initiatives that benefit diverse groups.

He highlighted flagship programmes such as PM Mudra Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana, Subhadra Yojana, and PM Awas Yojana, noting their wide reach among women, workers, Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).

To strengthen the training process, he proposed the creation of a handbook compiling all key welfare schemes for easy reference.

Speaking directly to ADWO trainees, he emphasized their responsibility in ensuring access to entitlements like scholarships, legal aid, compensation, and insurance for marginalised communities. ALOs were reminded of their critical role in upholding labour rights, enforcing safety standards, and protecting the interests of migrant and unorganised sector workers.

The interactive session was attended by 90 trainees, with the Governor personally engaging with each of them to inspire commitment and accountability in public service.
