Bhubaneswar, July 7 – The Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has issued red and orange alerts for several districts in Odisha as heavy to extremely heavy rainfall continues across the state.
Red warnings have been issued for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, and Sambalpur, where very heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning are likely. Some areas may experience localized flooding and strong winds.
Meanwhile, orange alerts are in place for Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kandhamal, and Kalahandi. These regions could see heavy rainfall with wind speeds up to 40 km/h and lightning.
The IMD has advised residents to stay indoors, avoid travel during intense weather, and stay updated with official warnings.
