16th August 2025, Bhubaneswar: The Hon’ble Governor of Odisha, Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, chaired a high-level review meeting at Raj Bhavan on 12th August 2025 to assess the progress of the Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Department under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). The meeting focused on the State’s efforts to achieve 100% Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) in rural Odisha.

In his address, the Hon’ble Governor stressed the importance of strengthening monitoring mechanisms, ensuring timely execution, and enhancing community engagement to accelerate the mission’s impact. He highlighted that access to safe and reliable drinking water is a basic right and a key enabler of public health and rural development.
Hon’ble Minister for Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water, Shri Rabi Narayan Naik, reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to empowering Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and implementing people-centric policies. He also outlined significant achievements in Jal Jeevan Mission, rural housing, and livelihood generation initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life in rural Odisha.
Shri S. N. Girish, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the department, presented a detailed overview of the department’s performance under key schemes. He highlighted ongoing strategies, challenges, and action plans to meet the mission’s ambitious targets.
Senior officials, including all Directors of the department, participated in the review and shared insights on the implementation status and future priorities.
