Great Sacrifices of Freedom Fighters Paved the Path to Freedom

Nabarangpur, 18th Aug 2025:  The 79th Independence Day was celebrated in Nabarangpur on Friday. At 4:30 a.m., the District Information and Public Relations Office organized a Ramdhun recital across the town. At 7:00 a.m., the District Collector, Additional District Collector, Deputy Collector, Zilla Parishad President, Chief Development Officer, school students, teachers, and citizens offered floral tributes at the statues of eminent personalities in different parts of the town and joined in the morning procession (Prabhat Pheri). At 7:30 a.m., the national flag was hoisted at all government and private institutions across the town.

Later, the district-level Independence Day celebration was held at the Nabarangpur Stadium. Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia, Minister for Forest, Environment & Climate Change and Labour & Employees’ State Insurance, attended as the Chief Guest. He hoisted the national flag, received the salute from the ceremonial parade, and addressed the gathering.

Also present on the flag podium were Nabarangpur MLA Gaurishankar Majhi, District Collector Dr. Maheshwar Swain, SP Madkar Sandip Sampat, and Municipality Chairman Kunu Nayak. In his address, the Chief Guest recalled the supreme sacrifices of freedom fighters, especially the martyrs of Papadahandi and the heroic deeds of Shaheed Laxman Nayak. He stated that independence was earned through such great sacrifices.

He further expressed the State Government’s commitment to transforming Nabarangpur into a prosperous district through the successful implementation of various welfare schemes and sought everyone’s cooperation in this mission.

After the district-level celebration, the Minister visited the District Headquarters Hospital and the Jail, where he distributed fruits and sweets among the patients and inmates.
