Umerkote, 25th Aug 2025: School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond and Lok Sabha MP Balabhadra Majhi today toured the Umerkote Assembly constituency in Nabarangpur district. During the visit, foundation stones were laid for the construction of additional classrooms in 10 different places of the block, with an estimated expenditure of ₹1.44 crore.
The foundation-laying took place at several schools in villages including Dargaguda, Guda, Bhitarguda, Nuaguda, Mandabeda, Badabashini, Bhaluguda, Burja, Kesharibeda, and Chandapuri.
Many schools in Umerkote block had long been facing infrastructure shortages, with cases where over a hundred children had to study in a single classroom. Taking note of this, the Minister approved funds for additional classrooms in nearly 10 schools of the block.
Speaking on the occasion, MP Majhi said that with a “double engine government” (Center and State working together), more steps will be taken in the coming days to further strengthen school infrastructure and promote education development in the region.
