Bhubaneswar, 28th Aug 2025: To improve the quality of pre-primary education, the state government has given special emphasis. Children’s nurseries (Shishu Batika) have been opened in 45,000 schools across the state. In each of these nurseries, a “Shishu Sevika” (childcare worker) will be appointed.
Although the School & Mass Education Department had earlier issued a notification, on Wednesday fresh guidelines regarding the recruitment process were released. According to the guidelines, appointments will be made by the School Management Committee (SMC). Any proposal will require the presence of at least two-thirds of the committee members, and the Block Education Officer must also be present. Eligible candidates will be women between 18 and 45 years of age.
Preference will be given to women from the local community, who are literate, physically and mentally fit, and able to communicate in Odia or the local language. Their duties will include assisting teachers in classroom management and helping with the care and nurturing of children.
