Animal Lover Soumya Gives Home to 66 Dogs

Cuttack,30th Aug 2025:Last week, a male dog had been strangled with a wire and was rescued by Soumya when its breathing had stopped. The dog was in critical condition and is still undergoing treatment. With this rescue, the number of dogs under Soumya’s shelter in Cuttack has now reached 66.

Among these, 9 are foreign breeds. Many of these foreign dogs were abandoned by their owners when they became old and helpless. Soumya has rescued them and given them shelter. This initiative encourages people not to abandon aged or sick dogs but to provide care.

The rescue of the male dog has sparked nationwide attention. Soumya’s work is being highlighted as an exemplary act of compassion.

Keeping foreign breed dogs at home is a mark of prestige for many, but when they age, some owners leave them helpless. Similarly, local Indian dogs, when they become sick, are often neglected. Soumya Ranjan Mahanti takes responsibility for such helpless dogs, giving them care, treatment, and a safe home.
