Bengaluru,30th Aug 2025:Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress President DK Shivkumar surprised everyone by singing the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) prayer in the state assembly.
The incident occurred during a discussion on the recent clash at Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday. Shivkumar reportedly sang the first two lines of the RSS prayer. During this, opposition BJP members applauded him by raising tables, while Congress members remained silent.
Shivkumar, who is considered a prospective Chief Minister, currently has some friction with the incumbent CM Siddaramaiah. However, Shivkumar stated that his singing of the RSS prayer had no political connection or ulterior motive. He emphasized:
“As long as I live, I will remain in Congress. My life and blood are devoted to Congress. My support for Congress will always be unwavering.”
Following Shivkumar, Congress MLA HD Ranganath also sang the RSS prayer on Sunday and described it positively. Ranganath added that there is no issue in the assembly with singing the RSS prayer, as their party is secular and can appreciate good teachings. He acknowledged that ideological differences exist between Congress and BJP/RSS.
