Borigumma, 30th Aug 2025: In a press meet regarding the long-pending recognition of Borigumma as a NAC (Notified Area Council), Congress leaders highlighted the ongoing delay and political issues. PCC Vice President and Jaypur MLA Taraprasad Bahini Pati addressed the press at Borigumma.
He stated that Borigumma has fulfilled all criteria for NAC recognition for many years, but due to lack of political will, it has been ignored. Taraprasad expressed firm determination that Borigumma must get NAC status.
Before the 2019 general elections, the previous government had announced Borigumma as a NAC. However, after the BJP government came to power, on 15th August, 12 new areas were announced as NACs, but Borigumma was not included. On 31st August, the government plans to announce nine more NACs. Taraprasad stated that he has personally met the Chief Minister and obtained assurance that Borigumma will be granted NAC status.
He warned that if the state government fails to declare Borigumma as a NAC on 31st August, the Congress party will launch an indefinite movement in protest.
