Aadi Karmayogi Campaign Reviewed at District-Level Meeting

Malkangiri,2nd Sept 2025: This afternoon, a meeting of the Aadi Karmayogi Campaign was held in the District Council Conference Hall under the coordination of the District Administration and Integrated Tribal Development Agency. Directed by District Collector Somesh Kumar Upadhyay, the meeting was chaired by Additional District Collector Somnath Pradhan. He stated that for the overall development of Scheduled Tribes, a revolutionary program called the “Aadi Karmayogi Campaign” has been launched through the joint cooperation of the State and Central Governments. This campaign is set to be operational from the current year and August 2025 onwards in 22 districts of Odisha, including our own Malkangiri district.

Within our district, 425 Scheduled Tribe majority villages spread across 7 blocks are included. These are: 113 villages in Chitrakonda block, 116 in Mathili block, 81 in Khairput block, 33 in Kalimela block, 47 in Malkangiri block, 18 in Podia block, and 17 in Korukonda block.

This campaign is expected to be successfully implemented. These 7 blocks cover 70,996 households with a population of 3,15,938 Scheduled Tribe members. On the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and Tribal Pride Year celebrations, the “Dharti Aba Tribal Village Utkarsa Abhiyan” was launched on October 2 last year.

The Aadi Karmayogi Campaign is a comprehensive extension of this plan. This campaign covers education, health, transport, panchayats and drinking water, village development, agriculture, women and child development, forest environment, and especially Scheduled Tribe and caste development. In collaboration with the Scheduled Tribe and Caste Development Department, it aims to deliver administration at the grassroots level in Scheduled Tribe majority villages, promote people-centric government schemes, and ensure the availability of essential services.

About 50,000 tribal cadres will be created across these 7 blocks. They will be trained as Aadi Karmayogis, Aadi Sahajogis, and Aadi Sathi, creating a bridge between the government and the Scheduled Tribe communities. This program will be successfully implemented to achieve all these goals. For this, at every village level, various centers like local Anganwadi centers, Gram Panchayat offices, and service centers will be set up and operational. Soon, training will be provided at district and village panchayat levels to start the campaign activities.

Different departments’ programs will be integrated, and a village-level action plan will be prepared for each village to ensure successful implementation of this program, the Additional District Collector said.

The meeting was welcomed by the Project Administrator of the Integrated Tribal Development Agency, Haldhar R. Shabara, who also presented the main topics of the meeting. Representatives from civil society organizations, including Piramal Foundation, participated, with Rajaram Mallik providing training to everyone present. Among others, district-level officers, BD officers, Tahsildars, and ITD department staff were also present.

A service center will be identified.
