2nd September 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported the formation of a low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal, leading to widespread rainfall across Odisha.
The system has developed under the influence of an active cyclonic circulation, and as per IMD forecasts, it is likely to intensify further in the next 24 hours.
Due to the impact of this weather system, several parts of the state are expected to experience moderate to heavy, and in some areas, very heavy rainfall. The IMD has advised citizens and local administrations to stay alert and take necessary precautions, especially in vulnerable and low-lying areas.
