Festive Buzz Grips Papadahandi Ahead of Durga Puja

Papadahandi, 19th Sept 2025:  The town of Papadahandi has become lively and vibrant as preparations for this year’s Durga Puja are in full swing.

The Papadahandi Sarbajanin Durga Puja Committee (Bus Stand) is organizing its 22nd Durga Puja, while the Shree Shree Shree Durga Puja Committee (Mandir Sahi) is organizing its 26th Puja celebration this year.

For the Sarbajanin Durga Puja, idol work is underway under the guidance of master sculptor Kamalakanta Bedanta from Kendrapara. Meanwhile, for pandals and decorative arches, a team of 25 artisans led by Dilip from Kolkata is working at the Trinath Tent House, Papadahandi. This year, a replica of Puri Jagannath Temple is being constructed as the central decorative theme.

At Shree Shree Shree Durga Puja Committee, Mandir Sahi, local idol maker Subash Bhatt from Pilka village is sculpting the idol for Vijaya Dashami, which will be held on October 2. For decorations and archways, an 18-member artisan team led by Shubhajit Bhuiyan and Jaga from Kolkata has been engaged since Janmashtami Bhoomipujan.

In addition, a 7-member artisan team from Bhubaneswar, led by Chittababu and Shishir, is working on pandal decorations. The theme this year will feature a replica of the Prem Mandir from Vrindavan.

With all these preparations underway, the entire town of Papadahandi is immersed in festive decorations and excitement ahead of the grand celebration.
