Chandahandi, 19th Sept 2025: Under the chairmanship of Santosh Kumar Khamari, editor of Chandahandi Sahityaghara, the “Punashcha Pruthibi” program was successfully held at Gayatri Shaktipeeth, Chandahandi.
Key attendees included:
- Purushottam Pari, retired BEO, as Chief Guest
- Nalini Das, Principal of Panabeda College, as Chief Speaker
- Professors Anil Prusty, Bhodeb Bagh, Madhukar Dash, and Amit Khamari as honored guests on the dais.
Discussion Highlights:
A major focus was on how to plant 1,400 palm saplings across the 14 panchayats of the block. Since palm saplings are typically planted in mid-September, it was decided that saplings would be distributed tomorrow to students from various regions currently attending the college.
Palm trees are known to be natural protection against lightning, and so the discussion emphasized the need to plant them in:
Open spaces
Grazing fields
Hillocks
Riverbanks
Roadside areas, etc.
It was noted that many people and cattle die from lightning strikes every year, and this initiative is a step toward solving that.
To support this effort, Editor Mr. Khamari has procured 1,400 palm saplings (locally called manji) from the forests of Nayagarh and Daspalla.
A group named “Punashcha Panabeda” has also been formed, including students, youth associations, and intellectuals.
Supporting participants:
Suresh Sahu
Lambodar Beshra
Pankaj Swain
Bhima Sahu
And members of the Sahityaghara
At the end, journalist Mohammad Hussen delivered a vote of thanks.
