Shrimandir Marked Red Zone by DigiCA for Strict Monitoring

Puri,14th Oct 2025:  The government has taken a major step to ensure the security of Shrimandir. The Central Government’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has declared Shrimandir as a Red Zone until the year 2028. After Puri SP Prateek Singh wrote a letter to DGCA through the state government, DGCA officially announced Shrimandir as a Red Zone.

This means no aircraft or drone is allowed to fly over the Shrimandir premises. The SP of Puri has warned that anyone violating this rule will face strict action under the Aircraft Act. Prateek Singh further stated that whenever restrictions are imposed on any airspace, that airspace is declared a Red Zone by DGCA. The letter from the government was the basis for DGCA to declare a Red Zone extending up to 50,000 feet above Shrimandir.

If anyone violates this, strict action will be taken against the individual. The restrictions will remain in place for three years, from October 2025 to 2028.

Yesterday (Friday), following an incident of drone flying over Shrimandir, a case was registered under the Aircraft Act and action was taken against the accused. The drone involved was seized. Registered drones will be aware of Red Zones during their flight. However, some drones manufactured in China may bypass these restrictions. Therefore, police teams will keep a close watch on such drones and take necessary action.

Meanwhile, the police department has started the process of installing anti-drone technology to enhance the security of Shrimandir. This anti-drone system will be operational very soon to further strengthen the security arrangements at the temple.
