Officials and Stakeholders Trained on Women’s Protection Under Domestic Violence Act

Malkangiri, 27th Oct 2025:  A district-level training program on the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 was held in the District Parishad Conference Hall, Malkangiri.

The program was attended by Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Somanath Pradhan as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries present included Chief District Medical Officer Dr. Dolamani Pradhan, District Social Welfare Officer Gouri Nayak, Additional District Social Welfare Officer Mamata Choudhury, PO-cum-DPO T. Jayalakshmi, and District Coordinator (Women Empowerment) Mani Mohan Sarkar.

Speaking on the occasion, the officials emphasized that no woman in the district should suffer from domestic violence, and urged for increased awareness and outreach in every village to ensure women’s safety and empowerment.

Participants in the training included CDPOs, supervisors, women police desk staff, Shakti Sadan representatives, and employees of the District Women Empowerment Centre.

Two trainers — Sagar Panigrahi (Legal Aid Defense Counsel) and Harish Chandra Behera — conducted sessions explaining various aspects of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, including legal rights and mechanisms for support and redressal.

The event was organized by the staff of the District Social Welfare Department, Malkangiri.
