Bhubaneswar, 1st Nov 2025: A total of 92 new railway overbridges will be constructed in Odisha. The entire cost of construction will be borne by the Central Government. The Ministry of Railways, Government of India, has given the necessary approvals for this project.
Earlier, it had been decided that the cost of these overbridges would be shared equally between the Railway Ministry and the State Government. However, at the request of the Odisha state government, the Central Railway Ministry has agreed to bear the full cost of all 92 overbridges being constructed at different locations across the state.
The Railway Ministry will now take full responsibility for the construction expenditure. Previously, the state government was supposed to bear part of the cost, but now the entire construction cost will be funded by the Railways.
The Chief Minister of Odisha expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on behalf of the people of the state for this initiative, which is seen as a significant step for the development of the state’s infrastructure.
