Two-Day Field Visit by Joint Agriculture Directors to Koraput, Nabarangpur Underway

Jeypore, Nov 27: Under the National Agricultural Development Scheme of the Odisha State Government, the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF), Jaipur, is implementing a Integrated Farming System Project. To review this project, the Joint Agriculture Directors of the Agriculture Department, Dali Tailbeej, and Nodal Officer Vishnu Prasad Pattnayak visited Vaipariguda in Koraput district and Kosagumuda in Nabarangpur district.

During their visit, they inspected all ongoing activities under the Integrated Farming System Project conducted by MSSRF. They also reviewed the fish farming model within the integrated farming system and interacted with farmers, discussing scientific fish farming methods and the proper utilization of resources, expressing satisfaction at how these practices have increased farmers’ income.

They observed fish ponds integrated with horticulture, fruit trees, and surrounding agricultural activities. Additionally, they interacted with landless families receiving support for poultry farming and self-help groups engaged in community nurseries and vegetable cultivation, discussing how these initiatives have contributed to their economic growth.

The officials also discussed with other farmers how the project has strengthened rural livelihoods and improved the economic condition of farming families.
