A Milestone Inspired by a People-First Vision
Sharing his thoughts on the change, Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati described the renaming as “a meaningful milestone” for the state. He noted that the new name mirrors the aspirations of the people of Odisha and aligns with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has consistently emphasized transparency, accessibility, and stronger citizen engagement in governance.
The Governor highlighted that this transition signifies a departure from colonial legacies and represents a conscious move towards embracing names that reflect India’s democratic spirit and cultural identity. “Lok Bhavan symbolizes pride, democracy, and the promise of deeper public participation. It reflects our resolve to build a stronger connection between the administration and the people,” he said.
A Step Toward Strengthening Public Engagement

Under its new name, Lok Bhavan aims to serve as a dynamic space that promotes public dialogue, collaboration, and community-driven development.

As Odisha adopts this new identity for one of its most important institutions, the renaming stands as a reminder of the state’s ongoing dedication to democratic values. Lok Bhavan not only represents a shift in nomenclature but also signals a broader transformation toward a governance model that places people at its core.
