Ganpur, Dec, 16: A preparatory meeting for the Ranpur Festival ‘Arjun’ 2026 was held today at the local Panchayat Samiti hall under the supervision of Ranpur Block Development Officer Manoj Kumar Nayak. Feedback was sought from committee members on how to make the upcoming festival beautiful and well-organized.
In a related development, a memorandum was submitted to BDO Nayak regarding the Chief Minister’s intention to establish a medical college at Basant Manjari Health Campus, Chandapur. The festival is dedicated to honoring the legendary figures who sacrificed their lives for Ranpur, including Rani Basant Manjari Devi, whose contributions have been commemorated despite some oversight concerns. It was proposed by journalists Braj Ransingh and Sukant Pattnayak to name the fifth day of the festival in her honor and to recognize talents in line with her vision.
To make the festival more attractive, festival committee president Smt. Padhi invited committee members and youth groups to participate in planning. Senior advisor Padhi suggested focusing more on cultural programs rather than extending the meeting unnecessarily.
Officials from the fire department, police force, electricity section, and health department—including Purnachandra Ray, Ashok Mahapatra, Uttarayan Mishra, Satya Narayan Mahapatra, Harihar Nanda, Rajkishore Pattnayak, Satyanarayan Sahu, Muna Mahapatra, Dinesh Parida, among others—gave suggestions to elevate the festival to a high standard. Line officers from all departments were present, with block employees providing assistance in organizing the event.
