Malkangiri, Jan, 16: The Annual Sports Meet of the oldest Government High School in Malkangiri district was celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm. On this occasion, a sports torch procession was taken out by the students from the local Hanuman Temple to the school campus. The torch was received by Surendra Kumar Padhi, President of the School Alumni Committee, who advised the students to participate in the competitions with true sportsman spirit.
The Headmistress and Block Education Officer, Mamata Sahu, hoisted the sports flag and highlighted the importance of sports in life. The school’s Physical Education Teacher, Ranjit Parija, administered the oath to the students.
During the two-day sports meet, various competitions were held including races, kho-kho, shot put, discus throw, long jump, high jump, kabaddi, musical chair, slow cycle race, and several others.
At the closing ceremony, Surendra Kumar Padhi was present as the Chief Guest, and educationist and senior journalist Shiva Prasad Kirtania attended as Guest of Honour. They distributed prizes to the students who performed well in the competitions.
Later, Mr. Kirtania advised students to limit the use of mobile phones, focus more on their studies, and participate regularly in sports for better health. He then lowered the sports flag, marking the formal end of the meet.
The Headmistress and Block Education Officer Mamata Sahu extinguished the sports torch and officially declared the sports meet closed.
The programme was conducted by the Science Teacher, Sandip Kumar Das.
Senior teachers including Shiva Prasad Patra, Nityananda Panda, Jayadev Panda, Durga Madhav Padhi, Manas Ranjan Senapati, Gupta Prasad Gantayat, Chiranjeevi Panda, Priyambada Biswal, Smruti Rekha Ojha, Mamata Nayak, Sandhya Mahapatra, Subhashree Satapathy, Namita Chalan, Sai Krishna Pattnaik, P. Jyoti, Raimati Barik, Jasmita Kandhapan, and many other teachers and staff were present and extended their full cooperation for the successful conduct of the event.
