Bisamkatak, Jan, 22: It has been informed that Indian players will participate in an international Sepak Takraw training camp to be held in Thailand from January 15 to February 9. Among the selected players is Vikash Reddy from Bisamkatak in Rayagada district.
Vikash will depart for Thailand from Bhubaneswar tomorrow. A student of Maa Markama College, Bisamkatak, Vikash has an impressive sporting record. He earlier represented Odisha in the Sub-Junior Sepak Takraw Championship held in Bhubaneswar and won a gold medal. He also won gold and bronze medals in Andhra Pradesh, and a bronze medal in Goa.
In the junior category, he represented Odisha in tournaments held in Bihar, Rajasthan, and Andhra Pradesh, winning bronze medals. After securing a place in the Odisha senior team, he earned recognition by competing in Kolkata, Telangana, and Goa.
Vikash also represented India at the Khelo India Games held in Daman and Diu, where he won a bronze medal. Considering his outstanding talent and performance, he has now been selected for the national team, and will undergo advanced training in Thailand along with the national squad.
On this achievement, Odisha State Sepak Takraw Association President Satyabrata Rait, General Secretary Pruthviraj Sahu, District Sepak Takraw Association President Rabindranath Panda, Secretary Dilip Pattnaik, Joint Secretary Samar Sahu, Treasurer Shashibhushan Pattnaik, and members Shivaram Nayak and Deviprasad Pattnaik, among others, have extended their best wishes to Vikash.
