Sharankul,Feb 2: A seminar on the National Education Policy (NEP)–2020 was organized by the Odagaon Block Primary Teachers’ Association at the auditorium of Sharankul Narayan Government High School in Nayagarh district.
The meeting was held under the अध्यक्षता of Association President Naresh Panigrahi. Odisha Legislative Assembly Speaker and Ranpur MLA Surama Padhy attended as the Chief Guest, while Nayagarh Zilla Parishad President Er. Debashish Pattnaik joined as the Chief Speaker. Among the distinguished guests were Additional District Education Officer Banlata Behera (Mahanti), State Teachers’ Association leader Jyotiranjan Mishra, District Primary Teachers’ Association President Bhaktarajan Mishra, Ranpur Block Teachers’ Association President Jyotiranjan Kar, Additional Block Education Officer Raghunath Mallick, Rajkishore Sahu, and others.
The program began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp before the statue of Lord Ganesha, followed by the felicitation of guests with uttariyas and bouquets. In his address, Er. Debashish Pattnaik elaborated on various aspects of the National Education Policy–2020 and also highlighted several issues faced by primary teachers.
Speaker Surama Padhy spoke about the objectives and vision of NEP–2020. On the occasion, 42 retired teachers and six non-teaching staff members were felicitated with mementos, certificates of honor, and floral tributes in recognition of their service.
During the discussion, district leaders drew the Speaker’s attention to the need for modernization of the Odagaon Teachers’ Bhawan, permanent BEO appointments for the block, and filling of three vacant posts. The speakers emphasized that while reforms in education policy are necessary with changing times, effective implementation of NEP–2020 would not be possible unless teachers are relieved from excessive additional duties.
Several educationists and officials, including Ranjan Kumar Das, CRCC Yashobant Pattnaik, Jagannath Barik, Narayan Dakua, and Sachidananda Das, extended their cooperation in organizing the event.
