Kalisī Walks on Fire, Sits on Thorny Jhamera Swing to Bless Devotees

Lanjigarh, Feb 2:  On the auspicious occasion of Magha month Shukla Paksha Navami, the Jhamu Yatra of Maa Hiranila, the presiding deity of Bakutpur village under Pokharibandh Panchayat in Lanjigarh block, was successfully observed.

At the beginning of the rituals, the procession first visited the house of village Gauntia Bikramaditya Barik for the ceremonial foot worship of the deity. From there, it returned to the Jhamu Yatra ground. After returning, the Kalisī (oracle/medium of the goddess) demonstrated divine power by walking over blazing fire. She later sat on a swing made of thorny Munia Jhamera bushes and responded to various questions of the devotees, offering them blessings and guidance.

Following this, devotees who had taken vows (manasik) offered sacrifices as per their pledges, including goats and a large number of chickens and pigeons.

Among the guests present on the occasion were former Minister Balabhadra Majhi, ACF Narottam Majhi, and Pokharibandh Sarpanch Sasmita Majhi, who sought the blessings of the goddess.

Under the leadership of Maa Hiranila Committee President Ramesh Chandra Sahu, the event was smoothly organized with the cooperation of Vice-President Karna Majhi, Working President Bhawani Shankar Banua, Pavitra Bibhar, General Secretary Bikramaditya Barik, Joint Secretary Sankirtan Behera, Treasurer Sudhanshu Sekhar Barik, Joint Treasurer Mukesh Behera, and other committee members.
