Bhubaneswar, Feb 2: Under the Malati Devi Pre-School Uniform Scheme, Anganwadi children will now receive higher quality uniforms. For this purpose, the State Government has approved an increase in the unit cost of uniforms and winter clothing provided to children.
The Odisha Government has revised the cost of uniforms, shoes and socks, and sweaters supplied to pre-school children aged 3 to 6 years enrolled in Anganwadi centres. Considering the continuous rise in fabric prices, stitching charges, and transportation costs, and to maintain the quality of clothing and related items provided to young children, this revision has been made.
According to the approved decision:
The cost of boys’ uniforms has been increased from Rs100 to Rs175.
The cost of girls’ uniforms has been increased from Rs150 to Rs225.
The cost of shoes and socks has been increased from Rs100 to Rs150.
The cost of winter clothing has been increased by Rs50, from Rs150 toRs200 per unit.
The revised rates will be effective from the financial year 2026–27.
With this enhancement, approximately 14.76 lakh pre-school children enrolled in 74,224 Anganwadi centres across the state will benefit. Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida informed that the additional expenditure will be fully borne by the State Government.
