Korukonda, Feb, 5: The seventh annual reunion of the 1991 batch alumni of Government Swami Sivananda High School, located at Korukonda block headquarters in Malkangiri district, was recently held.
The event took place near Nursing Pokhari at Koilipari village under the block headquarters panchayat. More than 20 former students attended the gathering and fondly reminisced about their old school days. For the past several years, this batch has been organizing such reunion programs annually.
Amid today’s busy and hectic life, the reunion provided an opportunity to take a day off and relive childhood memories. Even those living far away made efforts to attend and share memories of their school days, cherishing moments that can never return in life.
On this occasion, Binapani Mallik came all the way from Bhubaneswar along with her husband, Saroj Kumar Jena. Similarly, from Rayagada, Pankaj Mandal attended along with Himanshu Bhushan Jethi, Pradeep Kumar Maharana, Sudarshan Sabat, Bulu Sabat, Babuli Mali, Kailash Chetty, Dhana Pujari, Manoj Saha, Muna Patra, Simanchal Nayak, Kanema Pattnaik, Ranjita Bishoi, Subas Harijan, Narasingha Madkami, Shivaprasad Das, Shashank, Amaresh, and other alumni.
During the reunion, it was unanimously decided that next year’s gathering would be celebrated along with family members, and all present agreed to the proposal. After nearly 30 years, Binapani expressed her happiness at returning to Korukonda. All the friends present jointly thanked her husband, Mr. Jena, for accompanying her and being part of the reunion.
