Public Urges Government to Approve Medical College Proposal

Nabarangpur, Feb, 9:: A discussion meeting was held by the District Citizens Committee at the conference hall of Tripti Lodge, urging the government to establish the proposed medical college in Nabarangpur.

The meeting, chaired by President Jagannath Mahapatra, was attended by Advisor Jhadeswar Khadanga; State Primary Teachers’ Federation President Ramani Ranjan Tripathy; State Employees’ Association President Tripati Balaji Sahu; Ganesh Das; District Bar Association President Sirajuddin Ahmed; educationist Jagadish Chandra Tripathy; Bijay Choudhury; Dr. Bijay Kumar Mishra; advocate Santosh Mishra; Rabindra Prasad Padhi; Samaresh Gantayat; Laxmi Prasad Bishoyi; Niranjan Mishra; Srikant Mahanti; Prabhasini Mahanti, among others.

The participants discussed the justification, feasibility, and availability of necessary infrastructure and facilities for setting up a medical college in Nabarangpur. It was resolved that all organizations and concerned individuals would jointly bring the matter to the attention of the government.

Although a year has passed since the announcement, no concrete steps have been taken toward establishing the medical college. Therefore, it was decided to once again submit a memorandum to the Odisha Government.

Secretary Ramprasad Patra conducted the proceedings. Committee Joint Conveners Pradeep Sahu, Srinibas Patra, Subrata Behera, Sarat Das, Vivekananda Panda, advocate Kishori Pattnaik, and Swarnalata Pattnaik extended their cooperation. Tapan Bishoyi delivered the vote of thanks.

Among others present were Professor Akhil Bhatt, Birendra Kumar Nayak, T. Nandikeswar Reddy, Meenakshi Padhi, Siddhartha Shankar Behera, Umakanta Behera, Bhuvaneswar Sur, Ravi Prasad Satpathy, Birendra Mohan Nayak, Manoj Pattnaik, Ramakrishna Patra, and Laxmikanta Panda.
