Passengers to Pay More as CM Bus Service Fare Revised

Malkangiri, Feb, 13: After the state government renamed the LAccMI Bus as the Chief Minister Bus Service, it was initially operating under the old rules. However, following repeated threats by the Private Bus Owners’ Association to halt the Chief Minister Bus Service, the government has introduced changes to the system.

Passengers traveling in the Chief Minister Bus Service and AC buses operating in the district will now have to pay fare per kilometer.

In non-AC buses under the Chief Minister Bus Service, the fare has been fixed at Rs
1.27 per kilometer, while in AC buses, it is Rs 1.55 per kilometer.

Similarly, for the two Shree Jagannath buses  running from Puri to Malkangiri and the two buses operating from Pattamundai to Kalimela, the fare has been fixed at Rs
2.41 per kilometer.

Under the Chief Minister Bus Service (non-AC), students up to Class XII can travel free of cost. College and university students, transgender persons, and senior citizens are eligible for a 50percent concession. In AC buses, students, transgender persons, differently-abled individuals, and senior citizens are also provided a 50percent concession.

Additionally, women passengers are given a 50% concession on Shree Jagannath buses.

It is noteworthy that 27 Chief Minister buses and 11 AC buses are currently operating in the district. When contacted, District MD of the State Transport Department, Guru Dutt, confirmed that the new rules have already been implemented in the district. He stated that the fares are being automatically calculated and printed on tickets, leaving no scope for discrepancies.
