Korukonda:Feb, 21: A large gathering of devotees was seen today at various Shaivite shrines under Korukonda Block of Malkangiri district on the occasion of Jagar. From early morning, rituals and worship of Lord Shiva were completed and temples were opened for public darshan.
Major Shiva shrines in the area — including Subaleswar of Korukonda, Jaleswar of Tekguda, Lokanath of Dutelguda, Mahakaleswar of Balakati, Mallikarjun of Kantamadi, Omkareswar of Pushpalli, and Rajlingeswar near Balimela Chhak — witnessed continuous crowds throughout the day as devotees arrived to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva.
In the evening, special gatherings were observed for the lighting of Jagar lamps by fasting devotees. Bhajan and devotional chanting were also performed, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere, with chants of “Jai Shiv Shambhu” echoing across the area.
After midnight, Mahadeep (sacred lamp) rituals will be performed at different Shiva temples, along with the ceremonial Hara-Gauri meeting ritual. Various पूजा committees have announced that devotional music programs and cultural events will also be organized at different shrines.
To ensure smooth and peaceful darshan for devotees, volunteers from the पूजा committees along with police personnel were deployed at the temple sites.
