Dhenkanal,Feb, 24: One person died and six others were seriously injured after an auto-rickshaw overturned near Mahuldanga village on the Padapatia–Akhuapal road under Parjang police station limits in Dhenkanal district.
The deceased has been identified as Jaladhar Pradhan of Rangathali village under Dadaraghati outpost. The injured persons are Ajit Khatua, Dushmanta Behera, Arjuna Pradhan, Jagannath Pradhan, Baikul Behera, and Biranchi Behera — all residents of the same village.
The accident occurred while they were returning home from Maa Bileishuni Shakti Peetha at Kuturia village. The goods auto reportedly lost balance and fell into a branch canal.
With the help of local residents, all the injured were rescued and admitted in critical condition to the Parjang Community Health Centre. One person succumbed to injuries there, while the others remain in serious condition.
The incident has created a mourning atmosphere in Rangathali village.
