Odisha Govt Invites Suggestions for Formation of Additional Districts

Bhubaneswar, Feb, 25:  The State Government has invited proposals for the formation of new districts in the financial year 2026–27.

The government has received memorandums four times demanding the creation of Athagarh district from Cuttack district.

The demand memorandum has been submitted three times during the Garjat Parikrama. In the current month, the Athagarh District Action Committee has submitted the memorandum for the fourth time to the Chief Minister through the Sub-Collector.

Apart from this, while 66 new sub-divisions are reportedly under consideration, Badamba and Narsinghpur are likely to be declared as sub-divisions very soon.

Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari has given a written reply in the Assembly stating that proposals will be considered once they are formally received.

So far, the State Government has received 31 memorandums seeking the formation of new districts. The Revenue Minister has stated that the government will consider them at an appropriate time.
