Kudumulugumma:Feb, 25: An NCC (National Cadet Corps) unit has been inaugurated at Darwin Memorial Degree College located in Kudumulugumma.
The inaugural function was presided over by College Principal Ashok Kumar Das. The Sub-Collector of Malkangiri, Duryodhan Bhoi, attended as the Chief Guest. Among other distinguished guests were Assistant Collector Ajay Kumar Mandangi, Kudumulugumma Tahasildar Krishna Chandra Das, District NCC Nodal Officer Sushanta Majhi, and Gouri Shankar Behera. The NCC Officer of the college, John Kora, conducted the program.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Mr. Bhoi stated that it was a proud day for the college as an NCC unit had been formally launched there. He explained that the National Cadet Corps is a voluntary organization comprising the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force wings. It is one of the largest youth organizations in India, providing military training, discipline, and leadership qualities to school and college students. He added that the primary objective of the NCC is to instill patriotism, courage, and a spirit of service among the youth.
It is worth mentioning that earlier in the morning, under the direct supervision of District NCC Officer Mr. Majhi and NCC Officer Mr. Kora, various physical tests and running competitions were conducted among the students. A total of 47 students—31 boys and 16 girls—were selected as the first batch of cadets of the newly established unit. This created an atmosphere of joy and enthusiasm among the students.
All the teaching and non-teaching staff of the college extended full cooperation in organizing the event.
