International peace advocate and President of the Global Peace Initiative, Dr. K. A. Paul, on Friday met Dr Abdul Majid Hakeem Ilahi, representative of late Ayatollah Khamenei’s and Iranian Ambassador Mohammed Fathali in New Delhi and called for an immediate ceasefire amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.

The meeting was held at the Iranian Culture House on Tilak Marg at 2.25 PM and in the Iranian Embassy at 4 PM, where Ayatullah Elahi, the Special Representative in India of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei, received Dr. Paul for discussions on the ongoing conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States. The Ambassador also thanked Dr. Paul for the peace negotiations.

Following both meetings, Dr. Paul addressed a press conference in New Delhi and said the discussions had resulted in a breakthrough from the Iranian side toward initiating peace talks.

Dr. Paul said that during his meeting with the Iranian leadership and the Iranian Ambassador to India, detailed discussions were held on initiating dialogue to end the conflict. According to him, the Iranian side has agreed to give peace a chance and is open to talks aimed at de-escalating the crisis.

“We call the nations of the world to pray for a breakthrough from the Iranian side because I am in touch with the US and Israeli side as well. Today, between 2:15 pm and 4:00 pm, I met the Special Representative of the Ayatollah. After detailed discussions and the Iranian Ambassdor the Iranian side has agreed to give peace a chance,” Dr. Paul said.

He said that the development opens the door for diplomatic engagement involving all other international stakeholders.

Dr. Paul proposed a 72-hour window for peace, urging all sides to halt military actions and begin dialogue.
“In the presence of the Ambassador and the Ayatollah, we called for peace and asked all sides to give peace a chance for the next 72 hours. Within the next few hours I will be in touch with US and Israeli leadership to initiate dialogue,” he said.

According to Dr. Paul, three locations have been proposed to facilitate the peace process — New Delhi, Istanbul and Washington DC.

“I have suggested that the first round of peace talks be held in Delhi, the second in Turkey, and the third in Washington DC. War is killing millions, costing trillions of dollars and destroying global stability. Peace talks must begin immediately,” he said.

Dr. Paul also referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent statement calling for peace and dialogue in the region, saying it has strengthened the possibility of diplomatic engagement.

“I welcome Prime Minister Modi breaking his silence and supporting peace efforts. Now there is a real opportunity to bring all sides to the table before the conflict escalates further,” he said.

Dr. Paul urged leaders of the United States, Israel and Iran to seize the moment and begin negotiations immediately.

“Everyone will lose in war and every citizen of the world will be affected. Peace is the only path forward,” he said blessed are the Peace Makers .
