Paddy procurement for the Kharif season in Odisha will kick off from November 20 in Bargarh and November 22 in Sambalpur, according to an official announcement. This decision was made during an inter-ministerial review meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo.

The meeting noted that preparations for the procurement process are in their final stages. Singh Deo emphasized the need to expedite procurement and ensure that farmers receive fair prices for their crops while preventing any irregularities, such as brokering and improper pricing.

For the first time, an additional input assistance of Rs 800 per quintal will be provided alongside the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will officially launch the program in Sohela, Bargarh district, on December 8. Farmers who sell paddy in mandis by December 7 will be eligible for the additional Rs 800 per quintal.

To ensure transparency and quality, automatic grain analyzers have been installed in 200 large Procurement Centres (PPCs) with a capacity of over 4,000 metric tons. Moisture testing machines have also been provided for accurate grain assessment.
