Revenue Officials Support Local Weavers by Wearing Handloom to Work

Nabarangpur, March, 16:  In support of the handloom clothing initiative, all revenue officers and staff of the District Collector’s Office in Nabarangpur, along with employees of various offices across the district, are attending office every Friday wearing handloom garments.

Through this initiative, respect and support are being expressed for the state’s traditional weaving and handloom industry. It is noteworthy that the efforts and initiative of the State Government’s Additional Chief Secretary, Dr. Arvind Padhee, are highly commendable.

Dr. Padhee, during his tenure in the Agriculture Department and later after assuming charge of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, had informed all District Collectors through official communication about promoting the use of handloom attire. He has consistently emphasized the importance of wearing handloom clothing and promoting Odisha’s traditional handloom culture.

In recognition of this initiative, every revenue employee in Nabarangpur district has been regularly wearing handloom garments to office every Friday since 2023.
