Bhubaneswar, Mar, 23: A severe Kalbaisakhi storm accompanied by a cyclonic wind and hailstorm struck Karanjia Block in Mayurbhanj district on Sunday afternoon, causing widespread destruction.
Two people lost their lives in the incident, while five critically injured persons were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Kendujhar district for advanced treatment. More than 40 others sustained injuries.
The deceased have been identified as Police Naik (54) of Haldibata village in Kendujhar district and Malati Mohanty (45), wife of Lalmohan Mohanty of Biunria village under Karanjia block, according to reports
