Poor Drainage System Exposed: Minor Rain Causes Roads to Flood Due to Faulty Construction

Jeypore, Mar 28: Residents of the 6th lane in Power House Colony are facing growing concerns over waterlogging after recent light rainfall. According to locals, even minor showers on Wednesday night and Thursday afternoon led to water accumulating on the road, which remained stagnant for several hours.

People living in the area say that the newly constructed drain, completed around three months ago, has not been effective in carrying rainwater. They noted that the road level appears lower than the drain, making it difficult for water to flow into it during rainfall.

Residents shared that they had raised concerns about the construction earlier as well. Although the work was paused briefly at that time, they feel that the final outcome has not resolved the issue.

With the monsoon season approaching, locals are worried that the situation may worsen if heavier rains occur. They believe that without proper arrangements for water to enter and pass through the drain, the area could face more severe waterlogging.

The residents have now urged the municipal administration to take necessary steps at the earliest to improve the drainage system and prevent further inconvenience.
