Major Infrastructure Boost as Ultra-Modern Atal Bus Stand Planned for Lauguda

Gunupur, March 31: A new chapter is set to be added to the development of Padmapur, a major commercial hub in Rayagada district. Fulfilling the long-standing demand, expectations, and struggles of the local people, the path has finally been cleared for the construction of a permanent and modern bus stand in Padmapur.
The Odisha State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation has officially invited tenders for the project, bringing joy among local residents. In particular, Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena has been appreciated by the people for his sincere efforts and prompt action in making this project possible.
It is worth noting that Padmapur is not only culturally significant but also an important commercial center. People from nearby areas such as Gudari, Ramanaguda, and several parts of Gajapati district depend on this town daily for their livelihood and education. However, due to the absence of a permanent bus stand, commuters have long faced numerous difficulties.
Buses and heavy vehicles being parked along the main road have led to frequent traffic congestion, creating a serious problem in the town. To resolve this issue permanently, intellectuals and local organizations had submitted memorandums to Minister Jena on multiple occasions.
Taking into account public demand and necessity, the minister discussed the matter with senior departmental officials and approved the project. As per official information, the C-type Atal Bus Stand will be constructed at Lauguda in Padmapur block with an estimated cost of around ₹10.56 crore.
The project is targeted to be completed within the coming months. According to the tender process, interested contractors can apply online between March 13 and March 31, and the tenders will be opened on April 2.
With the long-awaited project finally taking shape, the residents of Padmapur have expressed their gratitude to Minister Jena and the state government. They believe this development will bring significant improvement to the region’s economy and transportation system.
