Nandapur, April 01: Due to the impact of a Kalbaisakhi storm, strong winds and heavy rainfall lashed areas under Nandapur and Lamtaput blocks of Koraput district. Several trees were uprooted, blocking roads, and some houses were also damaged.
Wind speeds of around 50–60 km per hour were recorded along with heavy rain. As a result, a tree fell on the Jeypore–Visakhapatnam connecting road near Masuri village, blocking traffic. A team led by Fire Officer Hemant Kumar Samal from the Nandapur Fire Station cleared the road by cutting and removing the fallen tree.
Reports indicate that several पंचायत areas including Badel, Atanda, Bilaput, Bheja, and Balda were left without electricity. TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) engineer Prabhu Mallik stated that power supply from multiple feeders was disconnected as a precaution due to the storm. Detailed reports on damages will be provided later.
In Badasagar village under Lamtaput block, an old tree fell on a house. Due to heavy rainfall, transportation was completely disrupted for some time. Fire service personnel from Lamtaput reached the spot and cleared the fallen tree from the house.
Tehsildars Debabrata Maharana and Dibakar Bag informed that the situation is being closely monitored.
