Nandapur / April 04 A skill development training program focused on the health and nutrition of women and children was organized by the voluntary organization Harsha Trust in Nandapur block of Koraput district. The training camp was held on Saturday.
More than 70 participants, including ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, and health workers from 5 पंचायतs, attended the program. Among those present were Dr. Ajit Sisa from Padua Primary Health Centre, and Harsha Trust officials Satyabrata Sahu and Chakradhar Majhi.
From the panchayats of Padua, Balda, Chatua, Hatibari, and Kulabir, 6 ANMs, 8 Anganwadi workers, and 50 ASHA workers received training. They were educated on the nutritional value of food based on the “food color wheel,” methods to improve immunity, and ways to maintain good health.
Using a projector, different food groups and their nutritional values were demonstrated through color coding. The participants were also guided on how to address malnutrition among women, adolescents, and children using locally available vegetables and food, along with proper preparation methods.
The health workers expressed that they would apply the knowledge and information gained during the training in their respective work areas.
