Nabarangpur, April 13:: On the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti and the Odia New Year on the coming 14th, the celebrations will be organized with great grandeur this year as well, continuing the annual tradition. A massive procession will be taken out across the town, with an expected participation of around 30,000 people.
At a press conference held at a local lodge, Gourishankar Sahu, convenor of the Hindu Ekta Bahini, shared details about the event. The main attractions of this year’s procession will include Aghora and Mahakali dance performances from Durg, a tableau from Raipur, and Dhol-Dasa dance from Maharashtra.
The entire town will be decorated with thousands of saffron flags. Additionally, six decorative temple arches (toranas) will be constructed at different locations. Around 20 cultural troupes and akhada groups will perform martial and traditional displays. There will also be two DJ units and two chariots of Lord Shri Ram in the procession.
Special Maha Aarti rituals will be conducted near the Jagannath Temple and Maa Bhandar Gharani Temple. Children are encouraged to participate in the procession dressed as various deities.
The Hindu Ekta Bahini has requested the district administration to keep liquor shops and non-vegetarian markets closed on the 14th. They have also urged the police administration to ensure proper traffic control and deploy a higher number of women police personnel.
A Sanatana mass run will be organized at 8:00 AM, involving children. The run will start from the Ram Temple and conclude at the RCD High School ground.
Several members, including Anam Panda, Nitibaku Tripathy, Santosh Kumar, Babu Yadav, Basarath Pattnaik, Lalatendu Lenka, and Muna Bishoyi, were present at the press conference.
It is noteworthy that for the past 12 years, the Hindu Ekta Bahini has been organizing this event annually to promote unity among the Sanatana Hindu community.
