Public demand grows for government bus service between Baliguda and Sambalpur to improve connectivity and ease travel

Baliguda, April 22  Baliguda, the largest subdivision of Kandhamal district in Odisha, continues to face various shortages, inconveniences, and administrative issues. Among these, the lack of a direct government bus service from Baliguda to Sambalpur has become a major concern for local residents.
Despite repeated verbal and written appeals to departmental authorities and the local MLA, no concrete steps have been taken so far. This has led to growing dissatisfaction among the people, prompting them to raise the issue again.
It is noteworthy that the distance from Baliguda to Sambalpur is approximately 180 km via Barkhama, Sudura, Landagaon, and Kantamal. If a bus service is introduced on this route, it would provide direct connectivity to Burla Medical College. A large number of students from Baliguda and nearby areas are studying in Burla Medical College and various other educational institutions.
Students from Baliguda as well as blocks like K. Nuagaon, Raikia, Daringbadi, and Tumudibandh are pursuing education in schools, universities, and institutions in Sambalpur and Jharsuguda. Due to the absence of direct transport, they are forced to bear higher travel expenses.
Additionally, many people travel to Burla Hospital for medical treatment. Compared to Brahmapur, Burla is relatively closer for residents of Baliguda. Several organizations and intellectuals have submitted written requests to the Baliguda MLA in this regard.
On this issue, MLA Chakramani Kanhar has stated that he will discuss the matter of introducing a direct bus service from Baliguda to Sambalpur with the Transport Minister and concerned departmental officials.
